YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

This blog was created with the soul purpose of spoiling the ending to various books, movies, games and anything else I can give away the ending to. It's also my personal review blog so beyond the spoiling, everything is my opinion.

Don't like it?

Beyond Two Souls (Game)

The somewhat creepy spirit shadow that fallows Jodie around and saves her throughout the game is in fact her stillborn twin brother! Powerful right? Dude kills to keep her safe.

The antagonist, Nathan ends up committing suicide because he's grief stricken and wants to be with his family. (Which is also the drive for the conflict in the story. He's putting his selfish desires above morality blah blah). He's willing to let the Infraworld loose on ours which is very very bad.

Anyhow, turns out you don't exactly fix the issue with his machine meant to merge the worlds of the living and the dead (known as the Infraworld) and you end up being a super badass in a post apocalyptic world with a particular choice. (Helps you had uber CIA training at one point in the story).

Here's the kicker though, there's a multiple ending choice in the end. Everything ends up in the same place no matter what, world's gone to shit. Who you face it with however is up to you (if you survive that is). After jodie shuts down the condenser and learns the truth about Aiden she's faced with the choice of basically life (the dark side that's full of unfinished business and yes love), or beyond (the bright peaceful side with the people you've lost. Including your biological mother).

BEYOND: If you choose beyond, yep. She dies. Jodie monologues about being on an ethereal plain and watching over people she cares about in the living world. Then it'll cut to Zoey (a little girl you helped a homeless lady give birth to at one point in the game. She's gifted and you find out Joe can communicate with her. Zoey has visions of the apocalypse knowing, because of Jodie, that she'll have to face it.

Life however has SEVERAL endings to choose from. After she shuts down the conductor she isolates herself in a cabin out in the woods for a while and her brains on the fritz about her memories because of being inside the condenser. She's also been living without Aiden by this point to and it tears her up. Then after a few months go by she's ready to move on with her life and here is were you choose who you go to.

RYAN: This is the CIA guy who's been helping, lying, and falling in love with Jodie throughout most of her adult life. Jodie realizes that despite everything she really does love him too so she shows up on his doorstep. You give live happily ever after traveling around and just avoiding the past. She gets a message that Aiden is actually still around, just basically staying out of her way now. Then she talks about dreams and visions she knows are actually premonitions and guess what? APOCALYPSE! (It's good to note that Ryan is not a part of her visions.)

JAY: So somewhere in the middle of the game while you're trying to just stay away from those that are out to get you, you come across a farm in the desert. You befriend a native american family and help them with a benevolent spirit issue they have. You can choose to go back to them and live with the older brother Jay who shows great interest in you. Seems like a pretty quiet and peaceful life. Again Aiden says hi. Then? VISIONS! APOCALYPSE! (Also Jay is not apart of the future badass-ery either)

ALONE: You can also choose to just keep living your life on your own. People are to difficult you need to keep you heart guarded, all that jazz. Jodie just hitchhikes and never settles, monologue over it all about how a normal seemed nice but just wasn't for her. As she travels she talks about always seeing spirits and ghosts everywhere, all the time. Then? I'm sure you can guess.... APOCALYPSE!

ZOEY: Now this was my favorite ending and one I felt fit really well. At one point when you trying to live under the radar so you can have that normal life you befriend a group of hobos living in a quaint community under a bridge. They're in a terrible state, but on of them, named Tuesday, is pregnant. You all go to an abandoned building where you help her give birth. (I cried a little. It was very emotional) She names her baby ZOEY. There's a fire in the building after but you and everyone make it out. All the hobos end up doing something with their lives too. Here you can go back and join them is an apartment they all share. As mentioned before, little Zoey ends up having the same ability to see spirits and whatnot as Jodie, so they form a bond. Aaaaand then visions. This time however, you aren't alone. You and Zoey face the apocalypse together. Zoey is destined to be our savior and Jodie is the one to make sure she is ready. Ultimate badass if you ask me.

Now because this is a decisions based game there are STILL MORE ENDINGS. Potentially, just about everyone you come across could have died along the way. IF you choose to live instead of her spending months in the cabin she visits a cemetery, cause you know, a lot of people you loved died. Then she will decide to move on with her life.

BEYOND: Pretty much the same ending as the other Beyond choice. Zoey has the visions.

ZOEY: Same as the other Zoey ending, but with fewer of her hobo friends cause some of them are dead.

JAY: The romantic interest that did live. Again same ending as his other option.

ALONE: Same. Hitchhiking, spirits etc.

OR YOU COULD JUST FUCK EVERYTHING UP AND FAIL AT LIFE, NOT TURN ON THE CONDENSER AND LET THE INFRAWORLD TAKE OVER EVERYTHING. With this Jodie is stuck in a hellish limbo all alone. Pretty sucky.

Now! I loved this game. I'ma sucker for story telling and it did a wonderful job of it. This is not the kind of game for someone who wants constant action packed button mashing. you are very much playing through this girls life in a non-linear fashion. They did an awesome job showing her growning and changing. I thought the story was well developed and the game over all was BEAUTIFUL. Plus a great soundtrack and a very talented cast. And it can be sort of two player with another person controlling Aiden when Jodie needs his help with something. It's fun to note too that this can be done with an app on your phone. You don't even need a controller to do it. A game I would love to play over as there are achievements and items to collect and what-not like that.

Plus, story man.

Story.

Golden Compass (Movie)

This movie....

IS TERRIBLE.

There. That's the big spoiler.

Oh. And there is no actual ending. Lyra escapes the Gobbler facility in the north with her daemon intact when the 'gyptians, witches and the armored bear come to help. Though after they ride off in Lee Scoresby's little zeppelin style craft the movie ends with the "We're on our way to larger struggles" feeling.

Don't waste your time seeing this movie. I remember seeing it back when it first came out on DVD. The only thing I remember is not being able to follow and honestly not actually remembering anything about the story. It was way too hard to follow.

I finally re-watched it again and if I weren't currently reading the book I'd still be very lost. The story is very rushed and they cut a lot out from the book that provides back-story and explanation. It doesn't even end where the book does! The movie leaves out the actual end of the first book and I read that it was planned to be included in the next movie that I'm pretty sure at this point will never happen.

The best thing about this movie in my opinion is the bear. Who doesn't love a talking, grumpy, armored bear? Doesn't hurt that he was voiced by Ian McKellen either.

All in all this had a very unsatisfying "ending" and everything in between.
